Art of Conservation (AoC)
Creating a Healthful Connection between People and Mountain Gorillas, in partnership with the Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Project, Inc. (MGVP)
This unique outreach program encourages artistic expression as a form of communication, exploring the
dynamic relationship between people, mountain gorillas, plants, air, soil, water, domestic animals and wildlife. For more info contact julie@art-of-conservation.com

Art of Conservation
OUR PROGRAM Art classes are offered to children and adults living in villages near the Parc National des Volcans in the northern province of Rwanda, Africa.
Free to those who sign up, the classes are taught by
Julie and her team, Eric Mutabazi, Fahad Ndangiza, and
Valerie Akuredusenge. With Eric leading the intruction, Fahad assisting, Valerie translating, and Julie providing inspiration and direction, the students are provided with instruction in basic drawing and introduced to ideas about gorillas, nature, and the interconnectedness of life.

Dr. Lucy Spelman, Regional Veterinary Manager, MGVP, Inc., makes frequent stops to the art classes and shares information concerning the health of the mountain gorillas, the health of the people surrounding the park, the health of the water we drink giving us a clear view how everything is connected.

Virginia Croskery, is a soprano and professor of Music at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. Virginia shared her knowledge of music and the love of teaching as AoC's first visiting artist. |
