Saving Gorilla Habitat, One Song at a Time
The Making of Mu Birunga
Mu Birunga / In Virunga, a song recorded specifically for Art of Conservation by New York-based musicians Kaiser Cartel.
AoC's Methodology
AoC approaches learning through a unique method, using visual, auditory, and performance arts to teach lessons and inspire creativity in its students.
Purpose
AoC exists to address the health conflicts that arise as a result of human and mountain gorilla populations living side by side around Volcanoes National Park. AoC recognizes the interconnectedness and necessity of good health in both populations, and in educating the local people. In partnership with other organizations which attend to the healthcare of the gorillas and people, AoC seeks to fill the education gap through its activities.
Vision
Currently working with two local schools, AoC aims to mainstream its approach so that Rwandans can teach its curricula in all schools around the park.
