Objectives
The program has nine objectives:
1. To create a learning environment.

2. The AoC team and guests share information about nature, gorillas, health and the interconnectedness of life.

3. To introduce students to different media, in addition to drawing, such as, painting, song, dance, and acting.

4. Encourage students to use the five core values of AoC in everyday life: respect, cooperation, sharing. honesty, and individuality.

AoC lessons are designed to encourage students to think about how people relate to each other and animals.

5. The instructor, class translator (both Rwandan), director, and visiting artists serve as role models, in addition to those guests invited to class.

6. Classes offer an up-close and personal experience with special guests.

7. Students are encouraged to produce their own art in class and outside of class.

8. The artwork produced by the students in class, which reflects various aspects of their lives, nature, gorillas, and health, is shared with the community in a series of art exhibitions.

9. Julie, Eric, and Valerie teach that each
piece of art has value regardless of skill level.

Students learn about nature.

For example, most reptiles do not hurt people, there is no reason to fear them, they are indicators of a healthy environment, they are part of our shared biodiversity, but it's best if they remain in the wild.
